I had an idea today to create a hand registered domain name from scratch, apply every SEO technique I can think of and give reports of it’s progress over the next 12 months.
To start, I will be using tools such as Google keywords, overture and keyword tools to search for viable domains that are available for $8 in low competition keywords that still receive ample traffic (ok well I won’t know this for sure until the site is listed in the search engines.)
I am not even sure what industry I want to develop in but I can tell you to start that I will be searching for higher profit margin product or service related topics that have a proven sales record. On the other hand, I will be seeking keywords in this industry that while they are typed in have not been slammed by Fortune 500 companies. A good example (though not a product) is something like a celebrity, if you can develop a somewhat known celebrity name domain into a site it’s probable that people are typing the keywords into Google yet no one is targeting their name or at least it is doubtful.
