A recent story covering PapaJohns.com and a popular domain typo that the company failed to register demonstrates the importance registering several variations of branded domain names. The domain typo PappaJohns.com receives between 6,000 to 15,000 visitors each month, most of whom are looking for PapaJohns.com, the national Pizza company‘s real homepage.

The domain is currently parked at Sendori, and type in traffic to PappaJohns.com is redirected to either a PPC Lander or of all places the Pizza Hut website, PizzaHut.com, perhaps Papa Johns’ number one competitor.

PappaJohns.com was first registered back in April 2000. That equals12 years of lost traffic, or nearly 100,000 lost visitors in a single year.
