1.35 million .co domains registered after two years
Just two years since its launch, the .Co TLD has achieved some impressive registration and renewal rates. In a recent interview, Nicolai Bezonoff, the COO of .Co Internet, the company that controls the .Co ccTOLD, shared some registration and renewal rate stats for the TLD.
Since 2010, over 1.35 million .Co domains have been registered. Of the domain names registered, pre-general availability domains have a renewal rate that ranges from 92 percent to 97 percent. Domains that were registered during the Grandfather phase have a renewal rate of exactly 97 percent. Domain names registered during the Sunrise phase boast a 96 percent renewal rate. Domain names that were acquired during the Landrush period have a renewal rate of 92 percent. Domain names that were registered post-general availability, the time period when the TLD became available to the general public, have a renewal rate of 62 percent This low figure is reflective of the blended renewal rate for first time and second time renewals, but the second time renewal rate for post-general availability domains is much stronger at 72 percent.

In response to the lawsuit, Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, said the following, “It’s the ultimate domain hack for Steve’s name and it will allow us to preserve his name and passion for technology and the world. Today’s anniversary marks the passing of a true monolith of a man, and we will ensure his legacy lives on.”
